Charging in Crete — what to expect
Public charging points are available in the main cities — Chania, Rethymno and Heraklion — and at a growing number of hotels and resorts across the island.
The simplest routine for a holiday is to charge overnight where you're staying, so you start each day with a full battery. For longer cross-island drives, a short top-up along the way is all you need.
Not sure about your route? Just ask us — when you book the Tesla we'll point you to convenient charging near your hotel and along your plans, so you never have to worry about it.
Electric car rental — FAQ
Is it easy to charge an electric car in Crete?+
Yes — public charging points are available in the main cities (Chania, Rethymno, Heraklion) and at a growing number of hotels across the island. The easiest approach is to charge overnight where you're staying; when you book the Tesla with us we'll happily advise on charging points along your planned route.
How far can I drive on a single charge?+
Our Tesla Model 3 Long Range covers 500+ km on a full charge — far more than a typical day of sightseeing around Chania and West Crete. Longer cross-island trips simply need a quick top-up along the way.
Is an EV cheaper than a petrol rental?+
On running costs, yes — electricity per kilometre costs much less than fuel, especially if you charge overnight at your accommodation. It's a premium car, so the daily rate reflects that, but you save every day you drive.
Do I need anything special to drive the Tesla?+
No — a standard driving licence is all you need, and the car is automatic. We give you a short orientation at pickup so you're comfortable with charging and the controls before you set off.
Can I pick up the Tesla at the airport?+
Yes — pickup at Chania Airport (CHQ), and Heraklion Airport (HER) on request, as well as our Kolymbari office and hotel delivery in West Crete. We have only 3 electric units, so book early to secure one.
