1. Rental Agreement

By renting a vehicle from IQ Car Rentals, you agree to these terms and conditions. The rental agreement begins when you sign the rental contract and ends when the vehicle is returned to our designated location.

2. Driver Requirements

• Minimum age: 23 years old (21-22 with Young Driver fee of €12/day)
• Valid driving licence held for at least 1 year
• Valid passport or national ID
• Credit or debit card in the driver's name
• International Driving Permit required if licence is not in Latin script

3. Insurance Options

All rentals include basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance:

• CDW (Included): €400 damage excess, €300 security deposit
• Excess Reduction (ER): €280 damage excess, €210 security deposit (+€42)
• Full Coverage (ZE): Zero damage excess, €120 security deposit (+€84)

Insurance does NOT cover: interior damage, loss of keys, damage to tyres/windshield (unless Tyre & Windshield Protection is purchased), damage caused by negligence, driving under the influence, or off-road driving.

4. Security Deposit

A security deposit is required at pickup and will be pre-authorized on your credit/debit card. The amount depends on your chosen insurance package (€120-€300). The deposit covers potential fuel shortages, traffic fines, or damage not covered by insurance. It is released within 7-14 business days after the rental ends, provided no charges apply.

5. Fuel Policy

Our vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel. Please return the vehicle with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, a refuelling charge will apply based on current fuel prices plus a service fee.

6. Mileage

All standard rentals include unlimited kilometres. There are no additional mileage charges.

7. Pickup & Return

• Main office: Kolymvari, 730 06, Crete, Greece
• Airport pickup: Chania Airport (CHQ), Heraklion Airport (HER on request)
• Port pickup: Chania (Souda) and Heraklion ports
• Hotel delivery: Available across West Crete on request
• Office hours: 09:00-14:00 & 17:00-20:00, every day
• After-hours pickup/return: Available with advance notice

Late returns without prior arrangement may incur additional daily charges.

8. Geographic Restrictions

• Vehicles may only be driven on paved public roads
• Off-road driving is strictly prohibited and voids all insurance coverage
• Driving to Balos via the unpaved cape road is NOT permitted
• The vehicle may not leave Crete (no ferry transport to mainland Greece)

9. Traffic Violations

The renter is responsible for all traffic fines and parking tickets incurred during the rental period. Unpaid fines will be charged to the security deposit or card on file, plus an administrative fee.

10. Accidents & Breakdowns

In case of an accident:

1. Ensure safety and call emergency services if needed (112)
2. Contact IQ Car Rentals immediately: +30 694 300 6062
3. Do not admit fault
4. Obtain details from other parties involved
5. Complete an accident report form

For breakdowns, contact us via WhatsApp for 24/7 roadside assistance (if Road Assistance extra is purchased) or guidance.

11. Cancellation Policy

• Free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup
• Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a one-day rental fee
• No-shows forfeit the full prepaid amount

12. Personal Data

We collect and process personal data in accordance with GDPR. Your information is used solely for rental purposes and is not shared with third parties except as required by law.
