Range: more than enough for day trips

Our Tesla Model 3 Long Range has a real-world range well over 400 km on a full charge — comfortably more than a typical day of Crete sightseeing. A return run from the northwest to Elafonissi, Balos or even across to Rethymno is easily within a single charge. Mountain climbs use more, but the long downhills give a chunk back through regenerative braking.

Charging: plan it, don't fear it

Charging infrastructure in Crete is growing but still thinner than in mainland Europe, and it's concentrated around the bigger towns (Chania, Heraklion) and many hotels. Our practical advice:

Charge overnight where you can. If your hotel or villa has a charger (more and more do), you'll wake up full every day — the easiest routine.
Top up in town while you eat or sightsee, rather than waiting until empty.
Use the car's navigation — it routes to chargers and shows live availability.
Keep a comfortable buffer before heading deep into the mountains or the far southwest, where chargers are sparse.

Treat it like topping up little and often, and range anxiety simply doesn't appear on an island this size.
